ADA (Disability)
There are designated wheelchair viewing areas located at the base of the tiered seating blocks. The arena also has seating for ambulant disabled patrons.
Accessible users will receive one additional complimentary ticket for their companion to help escort into and out of the event arena.
The only access to the venue is via Castlehill - a steep, cobbled street. In the majority of cases, those with accesible tickets will not have to join the main queuing system - please present your tickets at the first ticket check located beside The Hub (The Lawnmarket/bottom of Castlehill) for priority entry by 6.30pm latest.
Should any wheelchair viewing area ticket holders or ticket holders with mobility difficulties wish to be dropped off in a vehicle at the entrance to the venue, please ensure this vehicle arrives at St Giles Street by 6.00pm latest to be directed by the stewards onto the Esplanade. The vehicle MUST then be removed from the Esplanade by the bearer, returning to the Esplanade as instructed by the stewards after the performance end.
Approach the venue via The Lawnmarket (from George 1V Bridge/The Mound) and not from via Johnston Terrace, in order to gain this vehicle access.
Any wheelchair users who require to be picked up by vehicle at the venue will have a period of waiting until the audience has departed. We provide a guide time of 11pm depending on crowds and as agreed by police.
There are toilet facilities for disabled patrons available on the Esplanade.
This venue does not offer the Hearing Loop System or Infra Red Hearing system.
There is no parking at the Castle, but we do allow vehicle access for disabled patrons to be dropped off (see above). There is a limited amount of parking for blue badge holders just off the Royal Mile at St Giles Street, EH1 1PT (first come, first served basis). The nearest NCP Car Park is located on Castle Terrace, EH1 2EW (a 5-10 minute uphill walk from this point to the entrance of the concert arena).
